Excess Trader was established in 2002. We are a very small company specializing on stocklots sourcing and exporting. Though we are a small company, Derek Chan, the owner of the business, is very enthusiastic and totally committed to his business and customers. Providing the customers with the suitable stocklots and the best customer service are the core values of our business. Derek has worked for many leading sportswear and footwear sales and distribution companies in Hong Kong. After accumulating more than 10 years of working experience, he started his first business-a shoes shop. The business operated for 4 years and has closed on 2001. Then Derek established Excess Trader. The reasons are threefold. First, Derek has discovered there is a strong need for China-made stocks from overseas market. And according to our research, the most demanded category is apparel and the demand will be even stronger after the abolishment of textile quota on 1 January, 2005. Second, almost every company has leftover or unwanted stocks that needs disposal. And they need specialized company to dispose the stocks outside their normal sales channels. The main point is to match the buyers with the suppliers. That leads to the third reason. With the widespread of internet on business, it is possible to reach buyers from almost any countries through email or website. In other words, it can become a global business. That is why we launched our website with an online stocklot catalog on January, 2005 so as to widen our reach of worldwide customers. Derek Chan, the owner of the company, is now at age of 40. He has a value of integrity to his business and customers. He got a bachelor degree of Business Studies (Marketing) in 1989 from Hong Kong Polytechnic University.
