| Description: | Quality, reliability and responsibility would be the best way to describe Evrotek’s
approach to business.
Evrotek entered the market in the mid-1990s. It was a time of depression and economic decay in the former Soviet Union. The economic principles of old were no longer applicable and new ones were not yet developed or implemented. As a result, most state-owned enterprises went bankrupt and fell apart. Managers who had extensive experience of working in Soviet times with shock labour, five-year plans and Communist Party congresses were totally unprepared for the transition to private property and hired labour. Many of them believed that this situation was temporary and preferred to wait until things settled down. But times demanded a different type of relationships, relationships based on completely new principles. The market was filled with imported products and domestic producers were quickly ousted from it, losing their customer base. Then there were overstocking of warehouses, accumulation of debts, development of complicated systems for mutual payments and destruction of basic production assets. At precisely this moment, the Evrotek trading company was created. Based on honest and law-abiding principles and new practices, it quickly established an open and successful business aimed at creation. The practical consequences of this were that the new company began to fill the gap left after the dissolution of former service organizations, such as Selkhozkhimia, Agrosnab, Selkhoztekhnika etc. Evrotek offered services in delivering mineral fertilizers, fuel and spare parts to producers and began to buy their products from them. This enabled the company to earn its original capital. When common privatization started Evrotek bought its partner-producers’ shares. In most cases, those were destroyed or semi-destroyed enterprises. The company’s management and staff realized that acquisition of the shares was just the first step on the way to creation. Other and more monumental tasks were yet to come. Having rolled up their sleeves, the company’s staff enthusiastically got down to work on reconstructing, building, scattering fields with seeds and harvesting. Thus, gradually but confidently Evrotek began to evolve from a trading company into a trading and producing company. The years of painstaking and constructive work were passing. The company was active in both production and the social sphere. Evrotek started to sponsor various educational institutions, kindergartens, libraries and culture centers in the villages and towns where the company’s enterprises were located. But the greatest victory was that confidence was inspired in the professionals and workers again. That is how the main task was performed, and the company gained its most important assets - its eminently qualified staff. The high level of employee proficiency enables Evrotek to meet the requirements of global business. Deliberate and sound policy, strategy and tactics produced tangible results. Soon such world-famous organizations as HVB Ukraine, Raiffeisenbank Ukraine, BNP Paribas, Louis Dreyfus, Glencore etc became Evrotek’s business partners. So, that is a simple story of success based on professionalism, conscientious work and honest business of the united staff. |
