| Description: | Today´s "Harb Group" consists of companies which are managed by Mr. Harb Senior and Mr.
Harb Junior. In 1978, when Mr. Harb Senior founded the "Harb Export GmbH" in Bonn,
Germany, Harb Export started exporting industrial machinery from Europe to Middle East.
Soon however, Mr. Harb , who was always looking for new markets and opportunities,
enlarged his activities and began to import fresh potatoes from Egypt to Europe. Thus,
"Harb Export" was the first company selling Egyptian potatoes into Germany and
neigbouring countries. Nowadays, Egypt is the main supplier of potatoes in Europe during
the winter- and the springtime. In the following years, "Harb Export" also focused on
beef meat and became one of the biggest suppliers of Irish and German beef meat to Egypt
and the Middle East. Furthermore, the foundation of the company "Continetal
International Trading" in Egypt enabled and supported Harb Export to become the biggest
importer of lifestock and breading cattle in Egypt. During the same time, the company
"Protein Stars", a network of retailers, started to sell all kinds of beef meat products to its own shops and to supermarkets. In 2000, the mad cow disease made it necessary to keep an eye on non-european sources of beef meat and life cattle. Alternatives were Brazil and Argentina for meat and Australia for life cattle. Nowadays beef meat is delivered from Europe and South America and lifecattle from Europe and Australia. Customers of the "Harb Group" are found world wide, for example in Egypt, Iran, Lebanon, Greece, ... During a global expansion campaign in 2003, all companies of the "Harb Group" family were united and included in one group: "The Harb Group", with its headquarter and administration in Germany. A new office has been opened up in Brazil to organize and supervise the meat production in South America, which is run by a qualified personel. Furthermore, in 2003, a successful poultry business was initiated, from which we hope will become a strong and promising branch of our company in future times. |
